Bat Conservation

Location: London

Job Description

Bats are amazing animals and an important part of our natural environment. There are 18 species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically.  The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) works on a number of levels to create a better world for bats. We run a range of different projects and initiatives.

BCT operates a National Bat Helpline to provide the general public, owners of buildings containing a bat roost, the building trade and land owners and managers with easily accessible and accurate information. Myths and misunderstandings about bats, together with intolerance and fear have always been obstacles to bat conservation. The Helpline’s role in advising and supporting people who come into contact with bats, is an important part of BCT work towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

We have vacancies for up to five Seasonal Bat Advisors to join the Helpline team this summer. As a member of our small but busy office-based team, you will play a vital role in informing and inspiring the public about bats in the UK, by sharing your passion for conservation. The role not only allows you to develop your communication skills, you will also gain technical expertise while working with some of the most experienced bat volunteers in the UK. Ideal for bat enthusiasts and early career conservationists alike, BCT provides two weeks of intensive training on all things bat, so if you are willing to learn and challenge yourself we would love to hear from you. Seasonal Bat Advisors are well organised, self-motivated and thrive in a bustling, fast paced office. If you think you can be a passionate and enthusiastic ambassador for bats and BCT, please apply!
