Central Manchester University Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) is one of the largest NHS sites in the UK and is involved in an incredible diversity of work. Informatics provides 11,000 staff with infrastructure, application development & support, integration, IT project management. With a strong reputation for building quality applications, our software development team is undergoing a period of expansion to cope with the increasing demand for services. Accordingly, we have some very large projects in the development pipeline. Join us and you could soon be helping deliver real change that will drive our IT strategy and revolutionise the provision of IT systems to the Trust over the next few years. Your focus will be to establish and manage a software solutions architecture team. This team will take responsibility for converting requirements documentation into concise technical specifications. Moving the project into an agile development process, you'll work closely with development, QA and implementation resources to develop quality software solutions

Experienced in commonly used software design nomenclature and methodologies, you will have an appreciation of software development using ASP.NET MVC4, MS SQL Server, HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript and associated Internet technologies. Comprehensive experience of agile software development life cycles is essential and it would be beneficial to have familiarity with the workflows, systems and standards used in an Acute NHS Trust.

Solutions may be developed by an internal team or alternatively be outsourced to external development partners who may be local and/or offshore. A key responsibility of this role is to establish business relations with appropriate development partners and co-manage projects which have been outsourced to these partners.

Able to manage parallel work streams with multi-disciplined development resources and under pressure when the situation dictates, you are culturally sensitive and aware, able to operate with integrity and openness. You listen and learn from the contribution of others, are able to work effectively across boundaries, make evidence based improvements and always looking to innovate.
